I'm sure you've also seen the demo of Alan Wake that was shown during Microsoft's E3 press conference, what you might not know is that "there's a short section that precedes the press conference demo and an extra 10 minutes or so that comes after." - says IGN.

IGN and several other sites are now putting up full previews of the demo that only they were able to see. IGN's starts off with what we all saw from the press conference video, however, skip to page 2 and we have some more details.

As you saw in the demo, Wake makes his way on a sky lift and fights his way into another house. And then a bulldozer rams into the house. That's where the press conference demo ends. But there's much more.

In the full demo, Wake finds a shotgun just before the bulldozer rips the house in half. What comes next? Wake battles a possessed bulldozer. It's intense. With flaregun in hand, Wake fires off a shot directly at the charging bulldozer. It's enough to weaken it and a few blasts of the shotgun kills the dark spirit that possessed it. The bulldozer loses power, rolls to a stop inches from Wake.

Certainly does sound intense! I'll let you read the rest for yourself. Not much new but maybe some extra details you might be interested in nonetheless. In addition to IGN, Kotaku have shared their thoughts on the game too. They have largely positive things to say about the game, though they do suggest one area of improvement, and that is to the TV episode style presentation.

This Is Not TV: The demo began with a recap sequence entitled "Previously on Alan Wake" and also used a title card to lead into the action that read "Tonight on Alan Wake." Remedy is trying to make their game feel like an episodic TV season, a structure tried previously in Alone in the Dark, among other games. Maybe that would make the game more approachable for non-gamers, but it just seems odd to pretend that a gameplay session is a night-time broadcast.
